How approvals work

When a person approves, and what stays the same either way.

  1. The request: in chat you say which files to replace and attach the new ones; a connected tool can also read the files your pages point to, in the places you allowed.
  2. It stages a replacement (an upload, or a file already in your Media Library) and prepares a plan. A plan is a preview; nothing on your site changes.
  3. A person approves where the setting calls for it: by default for a connection, and in the Assistant when “Always ask for approval” is on. Neither can approve its own plan.
  4. It runs the plan. Each file is checked again just before it is replaced, and again just after.
  5. If anything looks wrong, the run stops and keeps the original. You can roll the run back later.

An Automatic setting exists for connections and for the assistant. It needs an explicit confirmation and limits (files per run, runs per day), and anything unclear still waits for a person.

See the approval setting for the assistant.
